Choosing a freight provider
Verify the company, shipment roles, and written scope before sending cargo or payment.
How do I verify a freight forwarder before shipping from China?
Check the legal company and payment recipient, identify the carrier, forwarding or NVOCC role, customs broker, and final-mile provider where applicable, and require the pickup, customs, duty, delivery, and exception scope in writing. A website, low rate, or copied license number is not sufficient by itself.
Use the freight forwarder verification checklist →Is a freight forwarder license number enough?
No. First confirm which company owns the number and which regulated activity it performs. For U.S. ocean transport, check the relevant entity in the FMC OTI records; for U.S. customs business, confirm the actual licensed broker through CBP. A coordinator may use separate appropriately licensed partners.
See the role-by-role verification process →Should the payment recipient match the quotation?
The legal company, quotation, service terms, invoice, and payment beneficiary should form a clear and documented arrangement. Stop and ask for a written explanation if payment is redirected to an unrelated person or company, especially after a last-minute bank-detail change.
What proof of experience should I ask for?
Ask for completed examples relevant to your cargo or delivery problem, with confirmed shipment facts, dates, mode, and privacy-safe operational photos. Customer identities and prices can remain confidential; stock images or an unsupported shipment count are not equivalent to a documented case.

Cargo, route and delivery conditions determine acceptance. Factories, trading companies and overseas importers can all enquire.
What types of shipments does landfallfreight handle?
We coordinate air, FCL, LCL and DDP freight from China to the USA, Canada and Puerto Rico for Chinese factories, trading companies and overseas importers. China handover can use supplier warehouse delivery, optional pickup, factory loading or warehouse loading.
Do you handle personal parcels or single-item purchases?
Our service is designed primarily for commercial freight rather than international parcels or courier-size personal purchases. A large one-time shipment may still be reviewed when the cargo, compliance requirements, and delivery conditions are suitable.
Can you ship bulky, heavy, or oversized commercial cargo?
Yes, subject to the packed dimensions, weight per piece, packaging, route, and unloading conditions. Large or heavy cargo needs a shipment-specific review before equipment and final-delivery arrangements can be confirmed.
Review bulky cargo planning →Which products require additional compliance review?
Food, feed, children’s products, batteries, liquids, powders, wood products, branded goods, stone, and certain steel or aluminum products may require additional documents or regulatory review. Acceptance is not confirmed until the product and route have been checked.
Can you consolidate orders from multiple Chinese suppliers?
Yes. We can coordinate supplier pickup or warehouse delivery, receive cargo, consolidate it, and plan LCL or FCL after the packed shipment is measured. Supplier count, readiness dates, and packaging details are required for planning.
See multi-supplier consolidation →What happens if one supplier is late?
The practical choices are to wait, move ready cargo first, split the shipment, or change the transport plan. Compare the missed cutoff, storage, extra pickup or handling, duplicated destination charges, and the real business deadline before deciding.

Complete shipment facts make mode comparisons and written scopes more reliable.
What information is required for an accurate freight quote?
Start with our six-field form: name, optional phone, email, business or individual, air or ocean preference (or not sure), and a required description. Share the cargo and destination details you know. We follow up by email for packing, postcode, accurate address, value and other details needed for a firm quote.
Open the freight quote checklist →Why can a freight quote change after final packing?
The first estimate may use product dimensions or incomplete delivery information. Final packed size, gross weight, stackability, largest piece, cargo attributes, address type, and unloading services can change chargeable volume, handling, route, or truck requirements.
See which charges and conditions to review →Why is the destination ZIP or postal code required?
A city name alone cannot identify the delivery terminal, remote-area status, truck access, or local service options. The postcode and address type are needed before final delivery can be priced and reviewed.
Can I request a quote before the cargo is ready?
Yes. We can provide a planning estimate from the best available information, but the booking scope and price may need to be updated after final packing details, cargo readiness, and current route availability are confirmed.
How should I compare LCL and FCL for 10–45 CBM?
Request both options on the same door-to-door scope and compare origin handling, ocean charges, destination CFS or container costs, customs, final delivery, supplier timing, and handling risk. The cheapest mode cannot be selected from one fixed CBM threshold.
Compare door-to-door LCL and FCL costs →DDP, customs, and charges
Importer arrangements and shipment-dependent exceptions must be clear before booking.
What does a DDP quote include?
Our agreed DDP scope includes export declaration, international transport, destination clearance, agreed duties and taxes, and final delivery. China pickup is calculated separately; FCL is individually quoted. Provide the ZIP/postcode and accurate address so the delivery scope and shipment-dependent exceptions can be confirmed.
Read our DDP and customs scope →Is a per-kilogram DDP quote reliable?
It can be a useful pricing format only when the provider also states the chargeable-weight rule, included services, named destination, duty treatment, Importer of Record arrangement, and shipment-dependent exceptions. The unit rate alone cannot prove that the import and delivery plan is compliant or complete.
Check a per-kilogram DDP offer →Who will act as the Importer of Record?
The importer arrangement is reviewed shipment by shipment and must be confirmed before booking. The customer must still provide accurate product, value, origin, and compliance information regardless of the commercial term used.
Who handles customs brokerage?
Landfall Freight coordinates customs requirements through appropriately licensed customs brokerage partners. The importer arrangement and actual broker should be identified for the shipment; Landfall Freight does not represent its internal team as a licensed customs brokerage.
What customs records should an importer receive?
The available records depend on the importer and brokerage arrangement, but the importer should know who filed the entry and what records it is entitled or required to retain. Ask before booking about the commercial documents, transport record, entry or duty information available through the licensed broker, and proof of delivery.
Review importer and document questions →What costs may fall outside the agreed quote?
Possible exceptions include customs examination or reclassification, inaccurate cargo data, remeasurement, CFS or minimum charges, storage, demurrage or detention, waiting time, failed appointments, address changes, and unrequested delivery services. Relevant conditions should be identified in writing before booking.
See fixed scope and conditional charges →Final delivery and coverage
The destination address and unloading setup can materially change the plan.
Can you deliver to residential addresses?
Qualified residential deliveries can be reviewed, but the postcode, truck access, cargo size, piece weight, appointment needs, and available unloading equipment must be confirmed. Residential service is not the same as standard dock delivery.
Compare residential and commercial delivery →What if the delivery site has no dock or forklift?
Tell the forwarder at the quotation stage and ask whether a liftgate-equipped truck can be arranged for the packed dimensions and piece weight. When available and suitable, the liftgate delivery charge should be included in the written quote; otherwise plan terminal pickup, rented equipment, or another approved unloading method before arrival.
Compare unloading options before delivery →Will the driver wait while we unload by hand?
Do not assume unlimited waiting or driver-assisted unloading. Confirm the free-time or waiting terms, whether manual unloading is permitted, the labor required, and what happens after a failed delivery. These conditions depend on the carrier and should be written into the delivery plan.
Plan manual unloading and truck access →Can I collect LCL freight from the destination terminal?
Terminal pickup may be possible, but the terminal, release status, pickup window, vehicle, identification, handling charges, and loading method must be confirmed first. It is not automatically available or suitable for every LCL shipment.
Review terminal pickup as an alternative →Can you deliver to Amazon FBA or a 3PL warehouse?
Yes, subject to appointment, labeling, pallet, booking, and receiving requirements. The destination facility details and delivery instructions should be provided before the final scope is confirmed.
Do you serve Alaska, Hawaii, and all Canadian regions?
Mainland USA service cannot be assumed to cover Alaska, Hawaii, or other non-mainland destinations on the same terms. Remote Canadian regions and islands may be unavailable or require separate pricing. We verify the postcode, cargo, and current channel before confirming coverage.
Can you ship commercial freight from China to Puerto Rico?
Yes, for suitable shipments when a current air or ocean route is available. Routing, customs or tax treatment, cargo acceptance, and island delivery are reviewed shipment by shipment rather than promised as a permanent fixed service.
Review the Puerto Rico trade lane →Timing, documents, and insurance
Estimates become more reliable after cargo and booking conditions are confirmed.
How long does freight shipping from China take?
Examples from our reference routes: USA direct air 3–5 days from flight departure to local collection; Vancouver ocean 16–22 days from sailing to local clearance and collection; Puerto Rico ocean about 49 days from sailing to pickup, plus about 2–5 days for local truck delivery. These are different route milestones, not universal door-to-door promises. See the destination pages for the full table.
Compare route-specific transit times →When does the transit-time estimate begin?
The written quote should state the timing basis. Supplier pickup, consolidation, export preparation, and waiting for all cargo to arrive may occur before the main international transit begins.
Is cargo automatically insured for its full value?
No. Carrier liability and cargo insurance are different. High-value, fragile, or special cargo should be reviewed for shipment-specific insurance, with coverage, exclusions, and claim requirements confirmed in writing.
Compare cargo insurance and carrier liability →What documents may be requested after I submit the form?
Depending on the shipment, we may request a packing list, commercial invoice, product photos, supplier details, HS code information, material or compliance documents, and delivery-site information. Documents are requested by email because the current website form does not accept attachments.
How quickly will you respond to a quote request?
We aim to review and respond within 12 hours. Complex, regulated, oversized, or incomplete shipments may require additional information before a usable quote can be prepared.
